Can't decide

Having applied some lens correction (fisheye) to an image I can't decide whether or not I like it. All votes counted :-) (and comments of course, good or bad, I don't mind)

Re: Can't decide

Richard,
For me the first one works well, could be my work screen but the sky looks a bit blotchy giving the impression of halos around the outer edge of the building, a very nice image all the same,
Regards,
Alan

Re: Can't decide

Thanks Alan, I did look at the sky very carefully and whether to "play" with it. What stopped me was looking at the reflection in the water, particularly the building, the sky was rather shadowed in that part. Maybe I should re-visit again

Re: Can't decide

Richard, I like this from a compositional POV but to me, the whole underside of the bridge is unnaturally bright and detracts from the overall quality of the image. I would like to see it toned down a bit to balance the image out a bit more. Just my tuppence worth.

Re: Can't decide

Thanks Steve, Not wanting to make excuses but I exposed for the underneath of the bridge wanting the textures etc of the stones. The angle of the sun on a very bright day helped by reflecting the light off the river. That in turn made the front of the bridge very dark in the shadows so another adjustment needed……………….why can light be so darned awkward at times?????

I will give your ideas a bash later Steve after camera club meeting:-)

I like these much better and I also prefer the size you have posted as they are much easier to view.

Re: Can't decide

Lol! Thanks Richard. Yep it's working better. emoticon

Shots like these with such awkward lighting can be a nightmare it's true but I do think this is an image worth spending time with. It has good composition, textures, all sorts so I would see what else you can do light-wise if for no other reason than to help you take more control of the light in PP.

Re: Can't decide

Thanks guys.

I am using a new host for my images and they don't do re-sizing, I totally forgot to set 1000 pix wide the first time.

Steve, I have toyed with this image so much in colour that I nearly went back to jump of the bridge (into the deep end of the salmon pool at 4 feet!) Only this morning I hit the mono button in L/R which then inspired me to try a little more. I think I might start from scratch again this Thu to see where I end up.

Anyone else fancy playing with it let me know and I will post the original RAW file up for you (greatly reduced in size of course)

Cheers aye!

Re: Can't decide

isa version only for me, prefer the brighter underneath, suggest cropping out las to remove the foliage -it adds nothing, or at least as much as you can without losing any brickwork

looks to me like its little contrasty under there , not sure why it is more contrasty than the distant [sign in to see URL] a bit dark

but anyway I like it and think its worth a redo

sure lets play with the RAW....??
