I think the composition here is very clever and Tony has brought to bear a thoughful eye. To me, I see the city buildings 'mirrored' in the smaller standing stones and I would hazard a guess that that is what Tony had in mind when he took it (maybe I'm just being artsy-fartsy luvvies) . In hindsight, I think it could stand the loss of the pole sticking out of the water on the left hand side. The foreground, middle and background just don't gel in my opinion. The reflection is what I would have connected with if I was at this location, just to see what I could get out of it. What is interesting is that the light on the architecture is looking good with some nice luminance reflecting back, however this scene has been shot by so many photographers it's hard to find a new angle, less would be more for my tastes. It is what i was going for tho. While my camera was set up taking a long exposure that will have a clean smooth foreground i thought id spend the 6 minuets looking for other compositions with my IR camera. Saw this pool with the reflection and the poles and loved it straight away. (Ive done similar with the poles and buildings up closer to Tower Bridge) A little more reflection could have worked better maybe but then it would have been even more busy. Cheers Steve. I did lose the pole on the left at first but i like the bird on top so it ended up staying.nondisclosed_email@example.com (TS446)Tue, 19 Jan 2016 19:50:32 +0000 Re: Smoking Towershttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2043960,from=rss#post2043960https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2043960,from=rss#post2043960I'm going to have to disagree with you Alan. Technically however excellent, Regards, Alannondisclosed_email@example.com (Alan Jones)Tue, 19 Jan 2016 11:11:24 +0000 Re: Smoking Towershttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2043925,from=rss#post2043925https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2043925,from=rss#post2043925Cheers lads. Liking the composition of this one and the clarity is superb. I would never have put it down as being an IR shot either. Very interesting.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Steve 734)Mon, 11 Jan 2016 19:55:53 +0000 Re: Smoking Towershttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2043725,from=rss#post2043725https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2043725,from=rss#post2043725Or white trees ;-) There certainly is more to infrared photography than crazy colours and effects. The strong blacks that IR produces are great to work with. nondisclosed_email@example.com (TS446)Mon, 11 Jan 2016 19:13:38 +0000 Re: Smoking Towershttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2043722,from=rss#post2043722https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2043722,from=rss#post2043722Great photo, though I wouldn't know it was IR if you hadn't stated it.
