Thumbs up from me. Very unusual, very effective.

Thanks for viewing, Mike

I always welcome critique of my images but prefer to try recommended edits myself.

Unusual subject matter, and great play on light and shadow.

Re: 'Bounced' light

This image is certainly eye catching as it is very unusual. And as per usual processing us excellent.

And as you know Steve I generally like your stuff.

But in this case - for me - the composition doesn't work.

The secondary bright spot in the RHS competes with the primary bright spot in the LHS with no overall benefit to the image.

I'm probably being formulaic but - again for me - it needs another strong shape/texture etc to give a contrast with all the spheres.

Sorry emoticon

Re: 'Bounced' light

Thank you everyone.

Chris - no apology necessary. I appreciate your view on it. I think this is one of those photos' that contains a number of different crops that would all work in their own way and mine was just one of those.

Interesting to experiment. Have a play with it if you wish.I'd be interested to see your take on it.

Re: 'Bounced' light

Ok - had a go.

Nowhere near as smooth tones as you get Steve. I was trying to get a composition that worked for me and that meant:

- reducing bright areas to one coherent area (ish),

- rotating image to get that bright area generally sloping down to RH corner, and

- trying to remove bright areas from the edges (not always successfully)

Image

I still think there is a good image in there but this is not itemoticon

Re: 'Bounced' light

I think you've done a good job with it Chris and I can clearly see the merits of containing the brights and getting them to slope. Makes sense to me.

Does it work? I think it does but in it's own way (if that makes sense?). As I said, I think there's a few possibilities in this one and it would be interesting to see what others would do with it...if anyone fancies it as an experiment?
