Re: top of the world

Works for me - I like the dark sharpness of the foreground contrasting with the lightness of the distance.

Its the sort of shot I can't get right (yetemoticon).

I am struggling with this impressive view, I feel that the impact and sense of scale isn't there. Could it be the rather uniform, bright light?

Re: top of the world

What would you like the image to be? It looks to me that it could be an old opencast mine and, if it is, then some sort of grittiness is called for. Perhaps try some hefty cropping like removing the sky and some off the right hand side and then see what happens.

Norman, I am certain it is a volcanic crater.

it's a crater. i've noticed it has a halo around the rim due to jpg in-camera sharpening.

Works for me too Reg. I've never been there but all the photo's I've seen give me the impression that it's not the most photogenic of islands.
