Eye

Just got round to processing this, actually taken in the summer at Hamerton Zoo. It's the nearest so far to a high key image that I have done - they don't come naturally to me.

Re: Eye

Nice one Chris, why not throw away much of that white stuff and concentrate on the eye, after all, it is meant to be an abstract?

Re: Eye

Thanks Norman.

The image as presented is a crop from a larger image and to crop much further would cause loss of definition.

But I also wanted to keep the white stuff because of the different textures, and to give a contrast between the sharp eye and the out of focus foreground and background.

I follow your thoughts then why call it an abstract?

Re: Eye

I didn't see it so much an abstract, rather more a picture of something where it wasn't necessarily obvious what it was at first glance. (?can you tell what it is?)

I could just as easily hsve put it in 'all aspects'

Re: Eye

Abstract art is basically a representation of form and, in my opinion, absolute sharpness and definition is not necessary for this. Indeed, to be able to recognise and/or identify the source of the art does, to a certain extent, mitigate against the image presented.

I have looked back at the images I have presented under the heading of abstract and, on second thoughts, some of them should not have been there.

Re: Eye

Hang the classification Chris, that's a lovely image and works well high key.
If one is to consider the traditional compositional 'rules', then the eye is in the perfect place on the third point intersection.

Thanks for viewing, Mike

I always welcome critique of my images but prefer to try recommended edits myself.

Re: Eye

Its a very good image, but to be honest,I would be tempted to loose a little off the bottom.

Re: Eye

Thanks for the further comments. Much appreciated.

Ye - I can see that cropping it a bit as suggested could work. If/when I get it printed I will consider it then.
