Just read it and there seems to be something in it and not just a plug for you to buy his book.

If nothing else the guy's experience suggests that what he says should receive serious consideration. But I can't actually understand it at the moment emoticon

Just skip read this too. Surely this is just a fancy adaption of the original Ansel Adams zone system taking advantage of current software's processing ability.
Don't think I shall be buying his book.

You may well be right Mike - but does it give 'better' (however defined) results than peoples' current method? emoticon

I guess we all have our own methods and is important that we should use what works best for us.
I still find the basics of the zone system useful to keep in mind when really thinking about my mono work in the field, but sadly that's not often enough.

I found it to be an interesting read but also found that nothing new was been told.

I have more or less been saying this for some time as found in my eBook http://www.digitalblackandwhite.co.uk/product/in-the-zone/

All he is id doing is placing the brightest part of the scene at 99% brightness in the raw converter.

So (in my simpleton terms) if the brightest part of the image is slightly less than the maximum that the raw converter can cope with, then you won't have any blown highlights. Even if I've got that right presumably you have to buy the book to find out how to do it?

And also find out about ? Processing to the left??

My head hurt just asking the questons emoticon
