Re: Selfie
For me this is a very strong image.
The contrast between their apparent total unawareness of the person in a seemingly bad state whilst they are doing something so trivial is very powerful.
I think they just didn't realise but would be quite ashamed if they saw this. (I would be, and whilst I wouldn't be taking a selfie I could very easily be taking a picture of some kind in the exact same situation )

Re: Selfie
A gorgeous range of tones in this image and the contrast between the 'have' and seemingly 'have not' is very powerful as Chris noted.

Re: Selfie
The tones and light in this are superb. Another amazing capture, extraordinary statement on our times. The couple are so caught up in themselves that they are unaware of both the beggar and you!

Re: Selfie
Yes this is what is meant by a picture telling a story...very strong social meaning to this shot, make of what you will we could all comment and intemperate it as we feel fits our view point. I am not interested in any of the technical aspects just the meaning.
I saw a mock post on Facebook, where drowning passengers from the Titanic were holding their phones taking selfies and pictures....
Regards,
Alan

Re: Selfie
Just thought I should say that I keep thinking about this image. For me it really is very powerful.
And as regards the possible criticism about the car ..... For me the car ADDS to the image because the distant car is symbolic of how far away from the American dream (as I understand it ) the chap on the ground is.
