Funnily enough, on another photography forum there is quite a hot discussion going on about a halo in an image. The photographer says there is no halo and several others agree but some others, including myself, can see a distinct halo. Personally I feel this doesn't work - it would have appealed more with a dark background.nondisclosed_email@example.com (eternumviti)Fri, 02 Oct 2015 12:19:12 +0000 Re: Last daffodilhttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2041878,from=rss#post2041878https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2041878,from=rss#post2041878Perhaps Ian could write a de-haloing action for eyeballs Norman. I've got so many 'floaters' and other crud in my eyes now I sometimes think images have got mega issues with dust bunnies etc. I've had cataracts removed from both eyes so colours are spot-on now and there is some progress made towards cleansing/replacing the eye's vitreous to get rid of this garbage but it aint gonna happen in my lifetime methinks. nondisclosed_email@example.com (KeithH2)Fri, 02 Oct 2015 11:03:57 +0000 Re: Last daffodilhttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2041877,from=rss#post2041877https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2041877,from=rss#post2041877Keith, don't worry about hiccups, a bit of discussion might liven things up. Perhaps what I am seeing is not a real line but an optical illusion caused by the meeting of the very dark and light toned areas. I got a couple of mates in another online forum to have a look and they can't see a line either so gawd knows what is happening guys! Hmm, just a few days back and I've already caused a hiccup. nondisclosed_email@example.com (KeithH2)Fri, 02 Oct 2015 05:55:42 +0000 Re: Last daffodilhttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2041872,from=rss#post2041872https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2041872,from=rss#post2041872Like Chris, I can see a very thin white line down the left hand side of the stalk. Maybe it is the white line on the left hand edge of the stalk I assume you mean the light stripe on the right hand side of the stalk Chris - it is the toned-down highlight from the shiny stalk. As for the tones, well that is always a matter personal preference and I tried to keep this sort of light and airy without going to the extremes I mentioned in the post text but thanks for your observations, they are most welcome. nondisclosed_email@example.com (KeithH2)Thu, 01 Oct 2015 17:57:58 +0000 Re: Last daffodilhttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2041864,from=rss#post2041864https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2041864,from=rss#post2041864( I am catching up on posts - having been on holiday for a while - and I see that you are re-joining the forum, so welcome back. Because of that and because still life is something I want to get into - and still haven't ( despite talking about it for ages) I want to like this but .... ... something isn't working for me with this image and I am having some difficulty in seeing what that might be. I like the darkened corners and the general composition. Maybe it is the white line on the left hand edge of the stalk (I have just managed to create one myself on a photo I have just processed and didn't know why it was there so any comments on that would be really helpful). Maybe it is something to do with the ?narrow range of grays in the main body of the flower. Or maybe I'm just in a grumpy mood because I have tried processing several of my own images and not got anything that I really liked nondisclosed_email@example.com (Elines)Thu, 01 Oct 2015 17:39:14 +0000 Last daffodilhttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2041847,from=rss#post2041847https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2041847,from=rss#post2041847I wasn't sure whether to go high key or low key with this image so I sat on the fence. nondisclosed_email@example.com (KeithH2)Wed, 30 Sep 2015 11:14:03 +0000
