Stream in winter

This image, from a negative made circa 1986 somewhere in the Yorkshire Dales with a Canon A1 & 50mm f1.8 lens, is one of the first images I scanned several years ago with my old Epson flatbed scanner (now defunct).

I like the image (it has some fond memories attached to it) but I feel I should be able to get more out of it so any advice would be welcome. emoticon

Re: Stream in winter

It is a difficult one Keith, it is replete with a sense of the place and season which I suspect wouldn't have held if it were a digital file, but it is hard to see how you will draw much else out of it. The composition is a bit fiddly, with the cut-off cherry(?) in the foreground and the several young trees which pull the eye about a bit.

Thanks, there is a dilapidated fence just to the right so I had to lose it which left these bits of the tree. I could try cloning out some of the saplings though.

I quite like this image, but agree that it is a bit fiddly, my technical knowledge is limited, but I might suggest trying a square crop with some off the top and a little boost in contrast, just a suggestion.
