Unless my eyes mislead me this image seems excessively contrasty and over sharpened.

Contrast intended. I've only used standard output sharpening for screen viewing from Lightroom but it does look a bit excessive on my screen too now that it's uploaded.
Image prints well, with the impact I was looking for.

It is a tad too contrasty, however it has bags of atmosphere, which hold your attention, i suppose it depends on your taste,
