Two friends

This is an image I took about two years ago, of two friends of mine. I had asked them to pose for pictures to help me get my head round the different effects of the two lenses I had.

They chose this pose themselves.

I have had a go at processing it now because - as mentioned in other posts - I want to improve the subtlety of my processing and - for me - one way to do that is to try people pics. (Not a subject I usually do.)

Re: Two friends

I like this Chris, in retrospect you could have got them closer together, or maybe mirrored each others pose, but still a well processed image with pleasant tones,
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan, good to get a bit more confirmation that I'm on the right track.

Re: Two friends

Just an update on this ....

Despite any improvements people might see - and please feel free to raise them - the wife of one of the two in the picture likes it so much that she wants a print of it.

And she is also the mother of the prospective bride that I hope to do informal pre-wedding shots for - so a few brownie points thereemoticon

Good Chris, and fun, lots of humour evident.

As regards the processing, I feel that there could be a bit more separation between the figures and the background trees perhaps?

I think you've done a fine job in capturing these two Chris. PP wise, I might be tempted to lighten the faces just a little and darken the background a tad.

That said, I'm looking at this on my laptop so I may be a bit off in my judgement...

Re: Two friends

Thanks for the further comments.

Its just dawned on me that I can start using my new monitor before I get the new computer that is going with it. So I will get it connected to the laptop and review this and others that I want printed.

Fine job indeed. I agree about bringing the faces a bit and hte background down some.

I agree with all that has been said Chris. This is a fine shot.
I think for the future it may be better to use some form of reflector to try to even out any dappled light that might be falling on your subjects's faces, which arguably is distracting.
Having ruined several lovely family shots by overlooking this I have bought a small Lastolite fold up reflector which does the job.

Thanks for viewing, Mike

I always welcome critique of my images but prefer to try recommended edits myself.

Re: Two friends

Good practical point Mike, thanks for making it.

When I took the original dappled lighting was something way beyond my ken.

I now have one of those foldy things too and that would be a good use if it, as I had to tone down some of the brighter spits in pp.
