The backdrop in this case is a piece of black muslin, which although does not absorb as much light as velvet, will render a dark background. The light in this scene was a single torch held to the left.nondisclosed_email@example.com (IanBarber)Sun, 26 Jul 2015 07:33:13 +0000 Re: Orchidhttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2040047,from=rss#post2040047https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2040047,from=rss#post2040047Sorry to say that this isn't one of my favourites of yours Ian, partly because I wouldn't have known it was an orchid if you hadn't said Also there is an isolated short vertical line on the RHS which is probably part of the plant but not obviously so (unless maybe it is just my screen not showing enough detail) More generally ... I know you have said somewhere that you use simple lighting etc for your still lifes - have you said how you get your dense black background? ?is it an unprocessed piece of black velvet (say) or do you get it as dark as you can in camera and then make it totally dark in pp?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Elines)Sat, 25 Jul 2015 22:25:42 +0000 Orchidhttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2040035,from=rss#post2040035https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2040035,from=rss#post2040035nondisclosed_email@example.com (IanBarber)Sat, 25 Jul 2015 19:54:57 +0000
