Re: Middle-earth
Me too. I very much like the crispness and detail in the beech leaves. Quite a haunting image for some reason.

Re: Middle-earth
It is a little eerie. I have another at the same location that I've attempted to split tone, i think thats even more haunting.

Re: Middle-earth
As part of catching up on my viewing I have just looked at several IR images one after each other and this is helping me get my thoughts clearer.....
...unlike other commentators this doesn't work for me (looking at it as I would any other image regardless of how it was produced) because ....
The main part of the image - grass and leaves - is predominantly all the same tone of white with little contrast/variation. This - for me - makes it difficult to find a focal point.
Likewise, the trunk on the right is either (more or less) the same shade of grey, or very dark with not much detail, and so not much contrast there either.
The left hand side and the part to the left of the trunk have much more contrast and those parts are OK (to me)
This could all be a result of either my uncalibrated tablet screen or my eyesight or both.

Re: Middle-earth
I appreciate your thoughts Chris.
I guess the contrast is from the bright parts to the left side of the trunk and then onto the dark side in the shade.
