Colour casts in black & white conversion
I would be interested to know whether you remove any colour casts that may be in your images prior to converting them to monochrome. As you know I use a lot of old colour slides and negatives and colour casts are frequently encountered, some slight and others quite strong. Also, now that I am using Nikon Scan in place of ViewScan the number of settings to choose from has been much reduced so, for slides, the choice is Kodachrome or anything else. Unless Kodachrome slides are scanned with the setting 'Kodachrome' chosen the result is a very noticeable blue cast. What happens with other makes of film is yet to be determined.
You may suggest that I suck it and see and no doubt I will but, if there are any pearly words of wisdom out there I would be most grateful for them.

Re: Colour casts in black & white conversion
I would think it better to try and remove the casts and get the image as neutral as possible, otherwise the casts will convert to sades of gray which you might not want

I thought that might be the case, Martin, thanks.
