Image Size

Why are some images on the forum larger on screen than others? with the size of an image set to 1000 on the long side i thought they would all appear as the same size on screen!
Regards,
Alan

Re: Image Size

If possible, I set the vertical to 750 and let the horizontal take care of itself. The only proviso is if the image is panorama shaped when the horizontal is set to 1100 and the vertical left to look after itself.

Re: Image Size

I have just checked on the instructions from he who must be obeyed and they are for landscape set horizontal to 1000 max and for portrait 800 max. So I have been breaking the rules.

Re: Image Size

This forum will show exactly any size image you post, the reason we ask for a sensible limit is for viewing, we don't want to be scrolling up and down or sideways to view a post, always size to the longest size of your image, I find 800px for portrait and 1000px for landscape is a good viewing size.

Re: Image Size

Screen resolution will play a part and so will available bandwidth.

20 years ago it was easy, we all used 640x480 unless you were rich and then you may have had 800x600.

Today, we have all these different viewing devices from mobile phones all the way through to 27 4K monitors capable of showing higher than 2560x1440

Personally, I think 1000px on the longest edge is sufficient for web viewing
