Ian - printing an album

Ian, you previously recommended printing albums of your work, which I'm about to start in LR6 CC (or photoshop) - not sure if this was a post or a video. But could you just point me in the right direction here so I can get the sizing longest length always the same?
I'll be printing landscape no matter what, and slightly to the right to allow for the binder on the left. So what is the best way to always print (a matte?) with the horizontal edge always the same length whether the photo is horiz. or vert. and therefore allowing my desired amount of white area around it all? This is using A4 landscape. If I can use this in some sort of profile or action so much the better.

thanks

Richard.

You mention printing slightly to the right so does this mean you are printing a book and if so will you be doing the binding yourself ?

Re: Ian - printing an album

Hi, no I was going to do what I thought you had - I'll print directly on A4 paper landscape (whether the photos are horiz. or vert.), but not use the whole of A4, and get a binder from ebay, due to that the photos will need to be slightly to the right of the centre and of course slightly up from centre as you would expect I think, does that make sense? If it would be better done as a "book"? I'll be doing an album for each year.

Re: Ian - printing an album

I understand now.

I actually do mine as loose prints and then enclose them inside an archival folio cover which I purchase from the USA.

I designed the template in Adobe Indesign but there is no reason why it cannot be designed in Photoshop or even Lightroom.

Ian, I have been intending to make a portfolio of my sister's wedding for the last 17 years. I recall your Lincoln Cathedral work on the old forum, and you had some pointers. I would like to source the folios.
