A revamped oldie.
Ilford HP5 plus, can't remember but I probably dev'd it in Fotospeed FD10

Yes - having the main trunk sharp and the outer parts blurred is very effective, especially given the title.

?did you use a filter of some kind to get it?

As for the effect, it was actually done on Picasa, I played about with it until I got the effect I wanted.
