Thanks for that Ian. You illustrate the point really well.

As I have said before I have a lap top at the moment and scope for calibration is limited.

However we hope to downsize houses in the next few months and I plan on getting a stand-alone screen to allow proper calibration.

Do people on the forum have views on the best producer of screens?

For example this screen + calibrater seem to be well favoured

Ian, I presume that images produced on a custom profiled monitor will appear just as detailed on a monitor which has what you refer to as a generic profile. If not then presumably the only reason for using a customised monitor is to ensure accurate prints.

Thank you Ian, that has answered my question. Incidentally, I could see the change at each end of the wedge without any difficulty so perhaps, purely by luck, my monitor set up is reasonable.
