In the past, I have done as low as 25 and as high as 500 prints per edition. I agree with Ian about signing the print, I normally ad 1/2" of white space around the printed image before matting and this is where I sign. nondisclosed_email@example.com (StevenZ)Mon, 29 Jun 2015 14:38:48 +0000 Re: Signing Prints and limited edition printshttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2039311,from=rss#post2039311https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2039311,from=rss#post2039311Simon asked, quote:Do people do limited edition prints? If so, how many in an edition and how much do they cahrge? Martin replied, quote:and to all intents and purposes if for instance its a run of 20 and the first in the run is £100 the next print will be higher and so on until the last print in the run is the most expensive. This is usually how it is done. The size of the edition varies from 10-35 prints, and also there are sometimes a few "artists proofs" sold as well for a lower price. Pricing varies considerably. I have seen some that may start around the $100 mark, and some that start around $500, and see the last print finish at $3,500. There are also artist that demand much more than that. Prints are usually mounted, but not framed. Now Clyde demands a good price for his work. Here is a good example. http://www.clydebutcher.com/image/50 So, as Ian said, One of those things you could never reach an answer. I was asked earlier today to sign a print. Did exactly as Martin described. I didn't but signing the back is also an option in case the print is remounted. nondisclosed_email@example.com (TS446)Tue, 16 Jun 2015 18:04:23 +0000 Re: Signing Prints and limited edition printshttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2036602,from=rss#post2036602https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2036602,from=rss#post2036602Personally I don't think signing the front would be at all weird. Seems perfectly reasonable to me. Would it be visible or covered by the mount - that would be a matter for the purchased in my view.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Elines)Sat, 21 Mar 2015 11:44:10 +0000 Re: Signing Prints and limited edition printshttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2036595,from=rss#post2036595https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2036595,from=rss#post2036595Thanks Guys this question arose recently when I printed the 'cley mist' image up to 17" wide on Canson Infinity photographique baryta - It looks amazing if I say so myself ( )and have had two requests for it , as signed and limited editions. I think the idea might be to both sign on the rear and on the matting However on this image, the first one I printed which they saw , I had also printed CLEY MIST and my name under it ( not knowing any better) one person asked to have it signed just above my printed name.so I was wondering if that would be wierd or possible... nondisclosed_email@example.com (Digital Finger)Sat, 21 Mar 2015 09:57:33 +0000 Re: Signing Prints and limited edition printshttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2036589,from=rss#post2036589https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2036589,from=rss#post2036589This might be of help. As for cost, this is one of those question which could never reach an answer. I don't sign the Matte board mainly because this cold be removed and separated from the print. I sign and date the the rear of the print with an Archival marker pen called a Pigma Micfron 08nondisclosed_email@example.com (IanBarber)Fri, 20 Mar 2015 12:06:32 +0000 Re: Signing Prints and limited edition printshttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2036559,from=rss#post2036559https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2036559,from=rss#post2036559And to try to suggest something that might be part of a solution .... ?what about having an oversized canvas at the bottom, but which is covered by the mount, that included all relevant info eg title photographer Name of person producing the print Name printer (eg epson xxx) camera name lens details camera settings Paper and ink details Processing software Etc This information could then be repeated exactly on a signed certificatenondisclosed_email@example.com (Elines)Fri, 20 Mar 2015 10:26:59 +0000 Re: Signing Prints and limited edition printshttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2036557,from=rss#post2036557https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2036557,from=rss#post2036557Hmmm ......interesting question - just had a quick google and found lots more questions, and even some answers http://photo.net/business-photography-forum/00Gk1jnondisclosed_email@example.com (Elines)Fri, 20 Mar 2015 10:09:43 +0000 Signing Prints and limited edition printshttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2036538,from=rss#post2036538https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2036538,from=rss#post2036538Do people do limited edition prints?
