Mounting photos
On the 'old' forum I posted a request for advice on how to mount photos.
I remember the advice as being something like:
- prepare the mount ie the piece of mounting board with the hole cut out
- fasten the photo on to a complete, flat piece of mounting board such that when the mount is placed over it the image is in the correct place
- the photo should be fixed along the top edge only to allow for any expansion
- that 'backing' board should be same size as the mount
- join the two pieces of board by making a hinge of the top two edges so that the mount can (relatively) easily be changed if necessary
- use acid free materials
Some other points:
?is all mount board acid free or do you have to confirm that it is?
?do B&W images tend to look best on ice white, cream, black or any other colour?
?what other pointers would people suggest as a starter
Nb. I have a mount cutter but not actually used it yet (with angled and vertical cutter)
