I don't have any idea what the 'message' is ....but to me this is a great image well processed.

Re: A 30 yr old portrait

Simon,
This portrait intrigues me from the perspective of its tonality. Lovely and smooth so they are. One thing that I have observed, is that when I enlarge it or use an iPad and stretch the image by pinching it, there is no, or very little pixelation. If you don't mind me asking, what camera lens and film did you use? Also your scanning technique?
A lot to ask I know😛
Regards,
Alan

Re: A 30 yr old portrait

that would have been a Canon F1n, probably 50. (FD) 1.4, most likely, other lenses I owned at the time were the 17mm FD lens (fantastic colour rendition that lens!) also a zoom of some sort, but can't remember which-hard to mremmeber Ive had so many lenses over time and of course theres no exif with film

probably agfapan 25 (as that was the film I sued most, but could have been FP4, there's a slim chance it was one of the Kodak T-grain emulsions, but I don't think so as they give an almost plasticky look to skin. Aha! actually just remembered the The original is colour film so hmmm got me wondering now -either fuji or kodak, if kodak it was KC 25 if fuji it was either film or slide -sorry mate really can't remember - might come back to me later....

scannen on Nikon coolscan 5000

I rmember editing it in photoshop though -it was one of my earlier attempts at this sort of thing- did about 50 versions but this was my best (I think)

Thanks Simon,
Just goes to show that film really does produce great results, especially also that this 35mm. I can stretch the image for miles,

Alan
