Epson ABW and Third Party Inks

Ii have just received a set of prints from a customer who wanted me to evaluate them and advise why they were not as neutral as he expected.

Upon investigation and some measurements, it was determined that these prints suffered from a greenish colour cast.

The outcome was that he was using the ABW driver as guided by myself but he forgot to mention that he was using NON OEM inks.

The Epson ABW Driver is as dam close to linear as you are going to get without spending £500 + on a RIP such as Image print.

However, the ABW driver has been designed to use a tiny we bit of yellow and cyan to neutralise the LK and LLK during printing.

The Non OEM inks neutralising process is not designed to work this way so if you are using third party inks then I would suggest not to use the ABW driver but use a professional colour profile for the paper/ink combination and print out of Lightroom/Photoshop in the RGB Colour Mode.
