Re: not finished

Just had a look Simon. Some very good stuff in there and I have to say I was impressed with the colour work you have on display. I love the one of the kids on the swings which dsiplays on your home page. I couldn't find it in your galleries [sign in to see URL] be my eyes.

I'm familiar with a number of the mono works through the use of this forum but there is also a lot of good stuff I haven't seen before. Post it up!

One suggestion and one crit. Suggest: I think you need a logo/name across the slideshow on the home page. But that's a personal thingy...

Crit is the watermark. It really does detract.

Re: not finished

thanks Steve the reaso for theinability to find some images in galleries is cos I had to dump image alone into separate hidden gallery for homeomepage slideshow otherwise it inherits the watermark, as some have done when I colletced thme rather than put the actual image in, - takes so long to do - what I really need to do it copy all images and do it again - I was hoping you couldnt see the watermark hoping was too ow down but it reallt depends on your screen real estate and browser in portrait or landscape mode

thats especially why I need feedbcak because on my 27" screen most are hidden

Still working

thansk for the commenst on the other images too

Very nice indeed Simon, funny how 'different' your work looks on the website. I am also intruiged by how distinct your colour work is from your B&W.

Simon, as soon as I looked at your site I was intrigued by your colour work and there are very few photographers colour work that I admire.

many thanks Toby.

Colour was always my thing in the past, totally into it - and never felt I had to struggle to 'get' color' but when it came to mono I really felt stumped

I noticed when looking at others B+W work that I just wsnt getting much 'feel' into my images whereas I didnt think that was a problem with my color

Two things happened of significance to change my mono outlook and I thimk they happened pretty simultaeiniouslty , one was I bought Ansel Adams book the negaitive and the other was that I suddently realised that I did not see shadows as part of my compositions.!

just wasnt 'seeing' them. So I very conciously decided that in order to improve my COLOUR work - which I thought was where I wanted to go - I was going to have to master mono and for THAT reason , (to imprve my colour) I decided to really try to learn mono

I got a darkroom etc and kept plugging away and was really stuggling to get anything that was more than average

It really HAS been this forum that has finally (I feel) brought my mono into a different level

Not any longer do I see it as a means to improve my colour, now I enjoy , in fact love it, for its wown ske because now finally I am starting to produce images that actually satisfy ME, and the knock on has been that (I think) my colour has also improved
