Macro without a camera

I am trying to capture acceptable images without the use of a camera. This image is part of a model cannon and is about 2.5cm wide. This is just a start and I hope to produce more images in the near future.

Re: Macro without a camera

You may already know about these Norman but I recently came across them on Elements Village - all to do with creating images by using a scanner:

http://www.photoscanography.com/

Is the web site of an artist called Janet Dwyer - most of her stuff is a bit twee and floral for me but some of the abstracts could look really good in B&W.

and:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scanography

This looks more interesting (to me) as in the actual article it gives some suggested techniques. And I would expect there to be more in the links (which I haven't looked at).

Re: Macro without a camera

Thank you Chris for the references, they are ones I have never seen before. I came across the idea of using a scanner many moons ago and, recently, decided to give it a go. The software that I use to drive my scanner is quite complex and there is more to this 'scannography' than first meets the eye. I want to do a bit more than copy flowers and some of the artistic stuff shown does not appeal. There must be something to be found in the structure of natural and artificial objects when captured at 1:1 ratio.
