Re: Worn Library hop up

Just came across this by accidentemoticon

I often find myself in the minority with some photos on the forum where they seem to do a lot for some people but not for me. Sorry to say that this may well fall into that category emoticon

The composition - with the partially concentric circles and generally dark to light towards the bottom LH corner - is good.

And I guess the RHS is blurred because it is a step higher than the LHS. But I don't think that is necessary for what is essentially (to me) an abstract.

But as a whole it doesn't work for me - sorryemoticon

Thanks for you honest opinion Chris, it was a bit of a wild card, but if I'm unsure I often post anyway, as is peoples opinions that can help steer you in the right direction.

Thanks Tim for seeing the post as was intended - to be honest and helpful.

I learned on the Talk photography forum that it was better to give reasons for views and whilt I don't always succeed in that with images I like, I do try to do that when commenting on photos that don't work for me.

It also helps me to (try to) be more critical of my own

Maybe doing these posts will prompt someone to comment and give you a different view.emoticon

good choice of subject matter and lighting....

- but like Chris it doesnt quite work for me either and I tink its because the eye wanders all over. Also for me it bothers my obsessive eye that the highest detail part isnt square to the frame but thats just me and probably nothing to do with artistic merit!

I think trying lots of different crops wil help find the best

Thanks for your input Simon, I might try some various crops, but the more I look at it, the more untidy it looks emoticon

Thats fine, in fact it now looks better as an abstract without the wooden edges of the steps, I'll leave it as it is now,

Cheers Tim.

Useful comments by colleagues Tim but the subject matter doesn't really swing it for me despite the editing skills.

Thanks for viewing, Mike

I always welcome critique of my images but prefer to try recommended edits myself.
