This looks very flat on my screen John. I think it could probably do with some selective contrast enhancement but not enough to destroy the obvious mood you are trying to create.

Thanks for viewing, Mike

I always welcome critique of my images but prefer to try recommended edits myself.

Re: Palm trees in wind

this is odd because it both looks flat and as if it has some strange stormy, windy, almost nightime-sih lighting at the same time

I quite like it as it is - though it does looka bit strange

It is a somewhat weird photo overall: the perspective is strange, with the hills shining through the whips of clouds.

With some work (it is rather flat), this could be a winner. A creepy one, no doubt.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. It was a sunny day, but there was a lot of mist in the hills. It looks a bit creepy in colour, but even more in monochrome! No Photoshop work, just conversion in Lightroom.

It doesn't have a full range of tones, I agree, but I think that is part of its atmosphere.

AS much as I like it, I do think though with some work this could move up a notch, artistically speaking - but that may not be your goal
