Uploading from Flickr

I have been following the variations discussions regarding the quality of images uploaded from Flickr and thought an experiment would be worthwhile. Here is the same jpeg, #1 has been loaded from my local computer to Flickr and then on to this post. #2 has been loaded to my personal web space and then across to this post. Can you spot the difference?

Can't detect any difference.

Happy to reiterate though, a terrific photo.

I have had a close look at the two images on a large monitor and can see very little difference. If the Flickr upload has been sharpened it is by a very, very nominal amount.
I guess it is fairly safe to say, from this experiment, that you guys (and gals) that post images from Flickr have nothing to worry about.
Thanks Toby and Simon for your additional comments.

Oh my, here I go again ...

there's a BIG difference ...

look at the tonality.

The first is blue, the latter is tan. I mean in extremo.

Like the second one much better, but that's because I love creamy B&W.

Just grumbling old me, so don't take it personally.

Cripes you have good eyes Marco and a good screen to go with them.
Now you point it out I can see a difference but not that markedly on my screen.
I have been trying to compare the sharpness which was Tom's original complaint about uploads from Flickr.

I can't see any difference between them at all in terms of tonality. I've put them side-by-side and flicked back and forth. Nothing...

Sharpness I can see a difference though.

Well there definately is a slight yellow caste to the first picture. Interesting that the size is smaller on the Flickr website. Perhaps this affects sharpness.

How do you link the picture ?

Thanks

Steve open your image in Flickr. Hit the share icon (Arrow bottom right). Select BBCode. Copy code.
Open the new post box in the forum . In the message pane first hit 'Code' above, then paste in the BBcode then hit '/code' above.
That should do it. Preview the post just to make sure!
