The cobbles have a nice texture also. When i visited Germany, (Krefeld) for a two week residential course for an engineering company i was really impressed with its cleanliness, also chocolate and cigarette vending machines on the high streets.....now how long would these machines last on our streets in the UK? as a child i remember newspaper machines that relied on your honesty to drop the required amount into a money box, but that was a different era...makes me sound ancient, but times have changed so much in the last 20 or so years nondisclosed_email@example.com (Alan Jones)Mon, 22 Sep 2014 08:15:53 +0000 Re: revisiting: quite literal street photographyhttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2031579,from=rss#post2031579https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2031579,from=rss#post2031579I just love these little background discussions we have ... nondisclosed_email@example.com (Marquinius)Thu, 11 Sep 2014 17:20:59 +0000 Re: revisiting: quite literal street photographyhttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2031541,from=rss#post2031541https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2031541,from=rss#post2031541quote:Marquinius wrote: Cityscapes somehow is easier in the mouth than townscapes, but I do like the difference as opposed to street photography. There is probably no logic in that decision other than both contain buildings or parts of buildings. My wife insists that my 'street photography' is best entitled 'townscapes' as I rarely manage to photograph people, but I think they are separate genre.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Clactonian)Mon, 08 Sep 2014 13:23:43 +0000 Re: revisiting: quite literal street photographyhttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2031512,from=rss#post2031512https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2031512,from=rss#post2031512Two interesting thoughts here: 1) can one crop so that the tram rails will end in the corners and still keep some kind of logical rectangle (4:5, 4:6, 5:6)? 2) on a deeper level: is street photography without people possible? Of course it end up as architectural photography, but do we really need people in "street photography"? Interesting indeed, must think a while.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Marquinius)Mon, 08 Sep 2014 11:22:51 +0000 Re: revisiting: quite literal street photographyhttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2031460,from=rss#post2031460https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2031460,from=rss#post2031460Not really 'street' photography (no people?), but a very nice townscape. Cobbled streets always have great potential. I've seen similar images with just a discarded cigarette packet or similar in the foreground, but that can often prove a distraction.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Clactonian)Sat, 16 Aug 2014 14:33:17 +0000 revisiting: quite literal street photographyhttps://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2030635,from=rss#post2030635https://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/p2030635,from=rss#post2030635 Early morning, just out of the hotel to go to a meeting in Kassel (Germany).
