I guess I missed the conversation about what happened to the previous forum.......

Re: and I missed it....
It certainly came to me. I'd not been on the forum for a long time - we can only get a poor internet service here, and the satellite that provides it often slows to a halt in the evenings. Its signal takes almost a second to go across space, which tends to be too much for those web sites that handshake a lot - I don't know if the now defunct one did that, but I found it difficult to use. The Runboard system is much better - some of the images come up in less than a minute.

Re: and I missed it....
note to self: do not go and live in Scotland before having checked the internet speed ... "some of the images come up in less than a minute" ...

Re: and I missed it....
I used to work in Glasgow, with 500MB/sec, but once away from the cities and settlements with influential people the speed is pathetic if anything. The satellite service that many of us subscribe to has even stopped saying what speed we can get. Before they got too many customers we had up to 1MB/sec and others had even more if they would pay more than £24 a month.

Re: and I missed it....
Bummer ... I'm scratching off an awful lot of places I would like to live, but won't because of this speed thing.
Holland is covered with glass fibre and free hotspots. Can't imagine not being able to go onto the web with anything that's even close to being slow.
even the super market has wifi at awesome speeds
