Re: Avatar -not the film....

Thanks for the response folks.

I managed it (of sorts) with Photobucket in the end. It's a bit distorted but I'll try and figure it out properly later on- spending too much energy on ironing out the kinks!

No, you are correct it won't load into the avatar box using the method I described.
Here's a work around for you. Send me the avatar image and I'll upload it to one of my sites and give you a link that you can then use.

Ok - thanks Mike - ?do you know what the limits are for an avatar - the one I tried was too blurry anyway and I was just guessing - I think it was 100 px x 100px at 72dpi

Mine is 200x200px which is auto-sized on upload. I found that most sites do this although they may have a different final image size. Hence my one size fits all.

Re: Avatar -not the film....

Doesn't seem to work for me. I'm hosting with Flickr and I've tried all three codes they provide and I get this message when I post into the 'My Avatar' field;

pers_icon: Must not contain spaces
pers_icon: Invalid avatar address
pers_icon: Maximum valid length is 150

No spaces in the file name
max size is 150px

Re: Avatar -not the film....

Ian - I can't help directly as Mike sorted mine out for me (in effect) but ....

...I also had problems loading an avatar on Elements Village and I was advised to use 'save for web' and that sorted it.

?maybe it will for flickr too?? emoticon (not sure what the smiley is supposed to mean but it seemed right somehowemoticon)
