Yes, like portraits with context.

And in particular I like the 'foghorn', which fits in with a chef shouting orders😊

What makes this non ground breaking portrait is the lens and that lovely receding OOF background almost a 3d effect,

Thanks guys.

Not in anyway saying this is great but in my opinion great portraits are usually not breaking ground but are honest looks at the people being photographed. They are about the subject, maybe a bit of the photographer and not about being something new.

I thought when taking the portrait that the foghorn was acting like an arrow pointing to the subject. Your words about it being a mouth piece wasn't seen by as that by me when i took it but it sure fits i think.

One of my college professors once told me and I have found this to be so true:
either everything in the frame is helping your photograph and if those elements aren't helping it, then they are hurting it.
