Re: Walking in Gt Ryburgh
You'd probably have to distort it beyond acceptable levels as the diverging in the left and right top corner edges are actually created by the lens. Not much you can do if you don't have more of the landscape on the original.
It is still a strong photo, though! That foreground is really well processed and looks wet and muddy like it does in real life.

Re: Walking in Gt Ryburgh
cheers marco...so, the implication is...more can be done to the distant parts re proscessing(as opposed to realignmnets)?
managed to improve the mist slightly I tink (local contrast increased which to my surprise seesm to have worked - I didnt think 'contrast' alone would work well with mist)
I also added a tone to try to include it with the others from GT Ryburgh
try the right one this time

Re: Walking in Gt Ryburgh
We are probably on the same par, but just to ake sure:
If this photo is a crop of a bigger one, you may have a chance to align the tree and sign on the left and the grass on the right. Both are now leaning outward.
But if you don't have more "photo" to play with, you're out of luck. After straightening the sides, you'd have to re-crop to get a photo without weird white patches (as a result of pressing in the sides at top).
My thought: let's be happy with what you have here and just make a check in your photo brain for a next time.
About further processing the tonality, the shadows, the what have you: I'm sure there are people around who have a better idea about that. I just go for "atmosphere" and really don't have much with all the "perfect processing" (although I appreciate THAT view on things and can only but press on getting the basics right before stepping away from them).
Cheers.

Re: Walking in Gt Ryburgh
the tree and sign are leaning exactly the same as before becaiuse I masked them out of the horizon starightening
No room to crop this is the full size image
TBH the convergings really don't bother me anywhere near as much as having a level horizon when the horizon IS level. In the case it wasnt anyway, the field goes all over the shop, however to allow for those to whom these things matter I have gone as far as I can with the convergings on this shot without getting more technical than Im prepared to go
I have however subtly retoned sligt areas to better move the eye for the foreground to the horizon

Re: Walking in Gt Ryburgh
keep coming back to this and whilst I kow it's not a classic image by any means , in fact it's the sort of image you'd normally think was worthy of the bin, however Itook it because I saw something so am compelled to keep trying to bring it out - it may be futile , it may be polishing a..erm..cow pat.... but will I let that deter me? Nay, nay and thrice nay - missus!
(and forget any more straignening - just not my bag, not where Im at man: or as we used to say in the 70's "Atman's where it's at man! lol""__)
but I digress - very litle to see in the way of change but subtle things as I started from scratch again.
If ya dunnie like it oh well - at least I feel Ive got out of it what I whanted - and got it out of mu system

Re: Walking in Gt Ryburgh
I think if you fits your vision then you have completed the shot, other than printing it out of course.
I don't see how you could get out of the leaning stuff without altering drastically your vision, its obvious that you used a very wide angle lens, and that type of lens gives you an effect that other lens cannot, that's what there for , arnt they, anyway I like the front to back DOF and the overall look as though things within the image a parting to let you into that field.
